Details
For this six-week series, we will examine the development of some of the church’s foundational doctrines. We will explore pertinent Biblical passages along with important theological debates of the early church.
You will need a modern translation of the Bible along with the study guide.
Our study will also use the Kerygma study guide called, The Bible and Theology, Book One (Themes 1 and 2, Who is Jesus? Who is God?) As the names implies, it is the first in a series of study guides. Be sure to get Book One. It is available from the publisher: https://kerygma.com/products/bible-theology-one?_pos=2&_sid=daa86eece&_ss=r
You may also want a copy of Turning Points in Theology by Donald McKim upon which our study guide is based (abbr. TPT). It is widely available on-line, including from Kerygma.
Please, order your own copy (or copies). If cost is prohibitive, contact me or Rev. Brooks Gignilliat. The church does offer scholarships. Contact, Mary-Elizabeth with questions about which study guide to buy.
For each topic, we will spend the first week learning about the witness of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, the second week about the witness of the New Testament, and the third week about the witness of the church through the ages, including that of some of history’s greatest theologians.
November 2-11 The Trinity: Who is God? (TPT pp. 4-21)
